Description:
PHYS 600 is designed to provide first-year graduate students with the mathematical background for subsequent studies of advanced mechanics, electrodynamics, and quantum theory. Topics treated include functions of complex variable, ordinary and partial differential equations, eigenvalue problems and orthogonal functions. Green functions, matrix theory, and tensor analysis in three and four dimensions.
